Named in honor of Vice Chancellor Michael D. Young, this program fosters leadership opportunities for students of exceptional merit. The one-year internship includes a scholarship to help support scholars as they develop leadership experience.
Michael D. Young Interns work closely with the office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Programs to execute programming for the division. Interns identify projects which complement their academic interests and strengths while advancing the goals of the division

"My project aims to increase the accessibility of mobility devices, such as wheelchairs and crutches, for students with temporary disabilities. This will be accomplished by working with UCSB departments and organizations to create free device rental systems at central locations on campus."
