Faculty Nights” is a fun and interactive event that bridges the gap between students and faculty through the exploration of a “hot topic”. This quarter's topic is "AI - your mind, your life" with opening remarks from Dr. Misha Sra, Assistant Professor, Computer Science. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly making its way into health decisions, law enforcement, transportation, education, politics, and art.   With the advent AI come important questions. Our event this quarter continues the discussion of AI and its many impacts.

Are we close to sentient AI or is ChatGPT a savvy trickster?   Should you trust your self-driving car?  How should we combat AI bias and racism? Will using ChatGPT to write help us learn or atrophy our abilities?   Should an artist be paid royalties if an AI is trained on her/his art? Will AI populate our top-10 Billboard music lists?   Which jobs are targets to be replaced by AI and which ones are safe?   Will AI's carbon footprint doom our planet?

Join fellow students and scholars for an uncensored discussion, all viewpoints are welcome.

The format of the event is as follows:

A 10-minute presentation followed by informal discussions at small tables (outside) with faculty/staff table hosts and approximately six students.
